What is the difference between a bituminous membrane and a breathable membrane?
  • A bituminous membrane is a membrane that does not allow vapour to pass through and is a common membrane used on older properties in the UK.
  • A breathable membrane, on the other hand is vapour permeable and in some cases air permeable, which allows the building to breathe and reduces the risk of condensation.
