What is the difference between Reaction to fire and external fire resistance?

REACTION TO FIRE relates to the degree to which a product will contribute, by its own decomposition, to a fire under specified conditions.

FIRE RESISTANCE is the ability of a component or a building to satisfy, for a stated period of time, some or all of the appropriate criteria given in the relevant standard.
