What is cladding?
Cladding refers to any vertical element attached to the external part of the building.
This new skin or layer can help to improve thermal insulation and weather resistance, or the aesthetics of the building.
Several criteria should be considered when selecting cladding:
- Aesthetics and use of the building
- Environment (neighbour buildings, climate conditions...)
- Performance required (durability, thermal, acoustics, waterproofing, fire, daylight...)
- Structural constraints'
- Budget.
