CASE STUDY: ONDULINE DURO SX 35
Stable Blocks, Nantwich
Onduline sets the stable standard with DURO
Durability, aesthetic appeal and eco-friendly properties – the three most important things Charles Firth, Managing Director of Rowlinson Garden Products, was looking for when it came to replacing the roofs on two of his stables.
Housing some of his most precious belongings, sadly wear and tear had meant that the roofs needed replacing, and as the stables were situated right next to his property, he not only wanted something durable and long lasting, it also had to have aesthetic appeal to fit in with its surroundings – this is where Onduline’s DURO SX 35 came in.

Premium corrugated roof sheet
The ONDULINE DURO SX 35 system is a premium quality bituminous corrugated roof sheet with industrial aesthetics, made up of a combination of flat and corrugated sections for a modern yet professional look. Similar to a traditional metal boxed profile but with the additional Onduline benefits: noise dampening material, easy to install, made from recycled cellulose fibres and contains no harmful chemicals.

Installation by Craig Brassington
Local contractor, Craig Brassington, from Craig Brassington Property Services, fitted the sheets and said: “I would highly recommend the ONDULINE DURO SX 35 Sheets to other roofing contractors, I’ve never used them before, but they are incredibly easy to install. They are lightweight making them easy to handle, simple to cut and quick to cover the area.”
Complying with EN 534 category S, the sheets are the highest quality sheet within the Onduline range, with a profile thickness of 3.5mm and a complete waterproofing guarantee of up to 20-years. The thickness and quality of the roof sheet provide great durability making it ideal for commercial and industrial projects.

Stable owner, Charles Firth
Charles Firth, owner of the stables, added: “I’ve been aware of Onduline for about 20 years and have used a few of their other products on different projects, but this is the first time I have encountered DURO SX 35.
Due to the situation of the stables and the proximity to the house, I wanted to ensure the finished product looked aesthetically appealing, however we also had the problem that one of the stables is surrounded by low hanging trees, so the solution also needed to be durable – ONDULINE DURO SX 35 was ideal for ticking all of these boxes.
“The dark anthracite colour looks truly stunning against the brick stable and the finish is fantastic. I would recommend them to anyone who is looking to spruce up an outdoor building or stable block.”
Perfectly waterproof, ONDULINE DURO SX 35 has a trapeze profile with 38mm corrugations that aid ventilation, and is resistant to even extreme corrosive agents, also to strong blasts of wind and as with all the ranges of Onduline's bituminous corrugated roof sheets and tiles, ONDULINE DURO SX 35 is made of 50% to 60% recycled fibres and contains no hazardous substances, making it a completely safe for animals and humans.
The sheets are available in a range of popular painted and intense colours for enhanced durability and to suit different applications, including forest green, anthracite grey, classic red and intense red which is glossier in appearance.
