ONDULINE FOR FARM BUILDINGS
Versatile and reliable roofing solutions for farming and agriculture
Roofing solutions
It almost goes without saying, animal welfare is a major issue for farmers and hugely important is providing appropriate shelter. Onduline is a market leader for lightweight roofing solutions, with 80 years of expertise. offering versatile and efficient solutions to meet a range of construction requirements. Onduline products are ideal for the farming sector, where performance is of utmost importance, due to the nature and intensity of the exposure to corrosive agents.
Onduline roofing products have been a ‘go to’ solution for stable owners and those caring for animals for years. Along with their durability, ease of fitting and being made of up to 50% recycled content, their acoustic benefit is a key reason why they are such a favourite.
Lightweight waterproofing
The Onduline range of roofing solutions and systems has been designed and developed to effectively meet the most varied requirements. Onduline roofing systems are ideal for stables, riding schools, warehouses, breeding farms, garages and greenhouses. The characteristics of Onduline system, lightweight, insulation and waterproofing, offer important advantages to end users in each of these applications.
The ONDULINE material used to manufacture the roofing sheets and ONDUVILLA tiles is made up of organic fibres impregnated with bitumen and resin. This composition is used to create roofing systems that are perfectly waterproof, ventilated, resistant to even extreme atmospheric agents, and to strong blasts of wind. Onduline sheets adapt to many different types of structures and are versatile in application from new build to renovations projects.
ONDULINE CLASSIC
The original corrugated roof sheet
Like all our corrugated roofing systems, the ONDULINE® CLASSIC sheet is fast and easy to install. It is suitable for either renovations or new-builds and can be used on timber frame or metal constructions.
Independent testing in laboratories has confirmed that the material used to manufacture our roofing panels and accessories does not create any health hazards, either during its installation or during its lifetime.
If you need to get that roof on quickly, either as a refurbishment or for a brand new building, the ONDULINE CLASSIC is a great way to achieve that.
The sheets are extremely light (only 3 kg/m²), flexible, and easy to carry around on site or on the roof, and the installer will not need any specialised tools. A mechanical or circular saw, or even a cutter, will suffice for cutting and adjusting the singular points of the roof, while a screwdriver or hammer is needed for fasteners.
All our roofing solutions meets the necessary formal standards, with ONDULINE CLASSIC holding the important BBA (British Board of Agrement) certification.
Acoustic benefits
ONDULINE CLASSIC sheets benefit from advanced thermal performance and provide acoustic comfort inside a building, for example, reducing the noise from driving rain and gusts of wind, which can be unnerving for any livestock inside.
While many other roofing systems allow the sound to penetrate, ONDULINE® materials absorb it, which is one of the reasons why many animal owners, including large numbers of stable owners, choose, repurchase and recommend our products.
ONDULINE DURO SX 35
Premium quality bituminous roofing
Alongside the CLASSIC range, Onduline has launched an even more durable roofing system, DURO SX 35, that is ideal for auxiliary farm buildings, including those housing livestock.
The modern looking mechanically strong bituminous sheets are a solid 3.5mms thick, yet lightweight and maintenance free with an extended 20-year guarantee.
Perfectly waterproof, DURO SX 35 has a trapeze profile with 38mm corrugations that aid ventilation, and is resistant to even extreme corrosive agents, also to strong blasts of wind.
Easy to transport, handle and install, the 200cm x 82cm panels weigh 3.66kg/m² and can be adapted to many different types of structure, whether that is for renovation projects or new buildings. Installation is fast and intuitive. It is also easy to cut, shape and fix with just standard tooling.
DURO SX 35 carries the aesthetical look of a metal sheet and is available in a range of stylish colours that will not fade.
Alongside their many other advantages, Onduline roofing sheets are popular for their thermal insulation qualities and also sit harmoniously in a rural landscape.
ONDUVILLA TILES
Tiled Look
Also extremely popular for agricultural buildings, including stables, is Onduline’s ‘clay tile’ alternative, ONDUVILLA.
With ONDUVILLA corrugated roofing tiles, a building’s roof can be installed quickly and efficiently, in a practical and long-lasting way, providing an attractive, very durable, water tight solution, perfectly suited to a rural location.
The tile sheets are available in shaded tones red, green, black and brown, with a 15-year weatherproof guarantee, and as they contain no metal the tiles will never rust, an important consideration for the busy farmer. They also contain no toxic substances, so there is no hazard for farm animals.
ONDUVILLA has the advantage of being suitable for shallow pitched roofs, down to an angle of 9°. Weighing only 1.27 kg per tile and a thickness of 3 mm, these tiles give a lightweight, robust roof requiring minimum maintenance.
Intuitive installation
The compact format of the tiles combined with their very light weight makes them easy to carry, transport, lift up to the roof and manipulate.
Installation has been made very intuitive, requiring no professional skills or specialist tools. Thanks to the ONDUVILLA smart lock system, designed with two parallel embossed lines located at each side of the tile, it is straightforward to achieve the overlaps needed for perfect weatherproofing.
The lines also act as a guide when fixing fasteners on top of the corrugations, making the process simple.
