Roofing for farms
Waterproof Roofing Solutions for Farm Buildings and Animals
When it comes to protecting farm animals and agricultural buildings there’s more to it than choosing just any old roof. Today’s roofing solutions must be practical, hard wearing and harmless to animals.
Protection for agricultural buildings
Onduline’s roofing sheets and tiles have been providing welcome protection for farm animals and agricultural buildings for decades.
Not only do they provide excellent waterproofing, have noise dampening qualities and look good in countryside settings, they are also free from hazardous substances, so are safe for people and livestock too.
While lightweight, they are designed to protect against the stresses and strains of the UK’s increasingly unpredictable weather, and are guaranteed for 15 years.
The hard-working panels offer exceptional durability and are able to withstand extreme wind, rain and snow, through to very hot temperatures.
Made from recycled fibres
Onduline Building Products has been manufacturing bituminous corrugated roofing systems for nearly 80 years, and is the global market leader.
The roofing sheets are perfect for meeting today’s requirement for ‘greener’ construction solutions.
Asbestos free, they are made from a minimum 50% recycled fibres and contain no harmful chemicals.
CLASSIC roofing solution
Like all our corrugated roofing systems, the ONDULINE CLASSIC range is fast and easy to install. It is suitable for either renovations or new-builds and can be used on timber frame or metal constructions.
ONDULINE CLASSIC sheets benefit from advanced thermal performance and provide acoustic comfort inside a building, for example, reducing the noise from driving rain and gusts of wind, which can be unnerving for any livestock inside.
While many other roofing systems allow the sound to penetrate, ONDULINE materials absorb it, which is one of the reasons why many animal owners, including large numbers of stable owners, choose, repurchase and recommend our products.
Independent testing in laboratories has confirmed that the material used to manufacture our roofing panels and accessories does not create any health hazards, either during its installation or during its lifetime.
Tried and tested roofing system
If you need to get that roof on quickly, either as a refurbishment or for a brand new building, the ONDULINE CLASSIC is a great way to achieve that.
The panels are extremely light (only 3 kg/m²), flexible, and easy to carry around on site or on the roof, and the installer will not need any specialised tools. A mechanical or circular saw, or even a cutter, will suffice for cutting and adjusting the singular points of the roof, while a screwdriver or hammer is needed for the colour matched fixings.
All our roofing solutions meet the necessary formal standards, with ONDULINE CLASSIC holding the important BBA (British Board of Agrement) certification.
Matching rooflights
To complement the ranges of Onduline sheets and tiles are ONDUCLAIR corrugated plastic sheets. Available in extremely robust polycarbonate and popular PVC, ONDUCLAIR corrugated sheets match perfectly with Onduline’s sheets and tiles and can provide daylight to the roofs of stables and farm buildings.
Perfect for that clay tile look
Also extremely popular for agricultural buildings, including stables, is Onduline’s ‘clay tile’ alternative, ONDUVILLA.
With ONDUVILLA corrugated roofing tiles, a building’s roof can be installed quickly and efficiently, in a practical and long-lasting way, providing an attractive, very durable, water tight solution, perfectly suited to a rural location.
The tile sheets are available in a range of shaded colours: red, green, brown and black, with a 15-year weatherproof guarantee, and as they contain no metal the tiles will never rust, an important consideration for the busy farmer.
They also contain no toxic substances, so there is no hazard for farm animals and they are manufactured using recycled fibres, so very eco-friendly.
Compact, light weight tiles
ONDUVILLA has the advantage of being suitable for shallow pitched roofs, down to an angle of 9°. Weighing only 1.27 kg per tile and a thickness of 3 mm, these tiles give a lightweight, robust roof requiring minimum maintenance.
The compact format of the tiles combined with their very light weight makes them easy to carry, transport, lift up to the roof and manipulate.
Installation has been made very intuitive, requiring no professional skills or specialist tools. Thanks to the ONDUVILLA smart lock system, designed with two parallel embossed lines located at each side of the tile, it is straightforward to achieve the overlaps needed for perfect weatherproofing.
Easy to Install with Matching accessories
The lines also act as a guide when fixing fasteners on top of the corrugations, making the process simple.
Both the ONDULINE CLASSIC and ONDUVILLA ranges feature all the accessories needed to complete the roof and ensure its water tightness.
The sheets are fixed in place with ONDULINE PE nails and universal screws, which are coloured to match the roof, while a selection of ridge and verge pieces complete the stylish look.
Colourful addition
A colourful addition to the Onduline ‘family’ of roofing solutions is ONDUPLAST COLOUR, a brand new range of durable, vibrant sheets that are ideal for farm buildings, including different forms of animal shelter.
Providing the strong chemical resistance that is required in animal environments, it is aesthetically pleasing while being mindful of the environment.
ONDUPLAST COLOUR is an opaque fibreglass sheet with a special polyester film that gives the sheet a surface level of protection to ensure high resistance to bad weather with excellent wind upload properties.
Available in red, grey and green, it is simple to install and carries a 10-year weather proof guarantee.
It is a flexible system that adapts to any architectural style and the materials used for both the panels and the accessories do not present any health hazard.
While brand new, it has the ease of installation that is associated with all Onduline products when traditional Onduline accessories and fixings are used.
