Roofing for animal shelters and pet homes
Onduline's corrugated roofing sheets and shingles
Whether you’re creating a home for pets, livestock, or other animals, providing a safe, secure and comfortable environment is essential. From protection against harsh weather to creating a sheltered space away from potential threats, the right shelter can make all the difference to animal wellbeing.
Onduline’s range of bituminous corrugated roofing sheets provides a practical, durable and attractive roofing solution for a wide variety of animal housing. Lightweight and easy to install, the sheets offer a natural aesthetic that complements outdoor environments while helping to keep animal homes protected from the elements.
Onduline material
Onduline’s roof sheets are made from our very own Onduline material. The Onduline roofing material does not contain any asbestos and is free from any hazardous substances making it completely safe. The material is made up of a mixture of cellulose fibres, which is recycled content that is impregnated with bitumen, providing enhanced waterproofing. This mixture of recycled fibres and bitumen is then compressed in to Onduline’s corrugated sheets.
The materials used to make Onduline’s roof sheets do not emit any dangerous substances into the atmosphere during installation or throughout its life cycle. Onduline sheets do not present any health hazards making it the ideal roofing product for housing animals, whether that be a stable, kennel, chicken coop or rabbit run.
The Onduline roofing material is manufactured using 50-60% recycled cellulose fibres, so is also good for the environment.
Benefits of Onduline for animal housing:
- High resistance to condensation
- Noise dampening material - deadens of the sound of extreme weather
- Moderates the temperature in a building, meaning it will create a cool internal atmosphere in the summer, whilst giving some thermal properties in the winter
Barns and stables
Onduline’s roof sheets are already a popular choice for roofing barns and horse stables. Their appearance is in keeping with the agriculture look associated with farms and stables buildings.
It is important to ensure that animals are kept at ease and feel safe in their homes. The prevention of loud noises can help to avoid any distresses. Loud noises experienced during storms, for example, can cause many animals to feel particularly anxious and unnerved due to the intensity of wind and rain noise.
While most roofing materials allow sound to travel through, particularly metal, the Onduline® material used to create the full range of Onduline roofing sheets will absorb part of the noise, which provides superior acoustic protection – the ideal properties for creating a comfortable environment for animals.
