Onduline Building Products, a leading manufacturer of lightweight roofing systems, has expanded the application of its ONDULINE CLASSIC bituminous corrugated sheets, which can now be used as a durable and attractive cladding solution for small, non-residential outbuildings.
Not just a roof sheet...
Traditionally specified as a lightweight roofing material for sheds, garages, agricultural and garden buildings, ONDULINE CLASSIC sheets can now be installed vertically as external cladding*, offering a robust, weather-resistant and aesthetical finish for a wide range of detached leisure structures.
Typical applications include leisure outbuildings and home offices, agricultural buildings, garage workshops and animal housing such as chicken coops and kennels.
*Small detached non-residential buildings such as:
- Leisure outbuildings / home offices
- Agricultural buildings
- Garage workshops
- Animal housing
Not for use on buildings with sleeping accommodation.
Please note that Onduline bitumen corrugated sheets are classified as Class E under the European Reaction to Fire standard (EN 13501-1). ONDULINE CLASSIC sheets are considered combustible and should only be installed on detached leisure buildings, as listed above.
Important Regulatory Compliance
Please ensure that your building project—the sizing and location of the small detached non-residential building—is in full accordance with the conditions stipulated in the applicable national Building Regulations. Compliance with these regulations is essential for the lawful and safe installation and use of ONDULINE CLASSIC cladding sheets.
For use on roofs with a minimum pitch of 12o and a maximum slope length of 15m, or as cladding up to 10m in height – see install guide for further details.
Please consult with your building contractor to confirm suitability and for installation.
Durable, lightweight sheets...
Manufactured from 50% recycled cellulosic fibres combined with bitumen, ONDULINE CLASSIC delivers excellent durability while remaining significantly lighter than traditional cladding materials. Available in a range of colours, the sheets are flexible, easy to handle and simple to install, making them well suited to both trade and competent DIY projects. Their corrugated profile provides a distinctive aesthetic, while also helping to shed water efficiently and withstand high winds, heavy rain and extreme temperatures.
Onduline Vs Other Materials
Unlike metal cladding, ONDULINE CLASSIC will not rust or corrode and requires minimal ongoing maintenance. The material also offers effective noise-dampening properties, helping to reduce external sound transfer into workshops and leisure spaces, while remaining asbestos-free and safe to install.
ONDULINE CLASSIC cladding is suitable for use on small detached non-residential buildings, subject to compliance with national Building Regulations. When used as cladding, the product is suitable for wall heights of up to 10m, with installation guidance available from Onduline.
Paul Duffy, Managing Director at Onduline, said:
“ONDULINE CLASSIC has always been valued for its strength, versatility and ease of installation. Extending its use to cladding allows specifiers, contractors and homeowners to achieve a consistent, durable finish across entire outbuildings, not just the roof. It’s a practical solution that balances performance, aesthetics and sustainability.”
Versatile Applications
In addition to cladding applications, ONDULINE CLASSIC sheets can also be used as an aesthetic covering for garden fences and gates, providing a durable alternative finish for outdoor boundaries. Installed directly onto fully boarded fence or gate panels, the sheets offer the same weather resistance and visual appeal, further enhancing the product’s versatility across external projects.
