CASE STUDY: Transforming a Garden Shed with ONDULINE EASYFIX
19 June 2026
Giving a well-loved shed a new lease of life
Gardening content creator Sammy Stringer, known online as @insammysgarden_, recently turned her attention to one of the most hardworking features in her outdoor space, her garden shed. After years of exposure to the elements, the existing felt roof was beginning to show signs of wear, prompting Sammy to look for a durable, low-maintenance solution that would not only improve weather protection but also enhance the overall appearance of the building.
Having previously worked with Onduline on a pergola project, Sammy was already familiar with the benefits of lightweight roofing materials. For this latest renovation, she selected ONDULINE EASYFIX sheets to completely transform the shed roof, creating a smart, modern finish while improving its long-term performance. Offering a premium alternative to traditional shed felt, EASYFIX combines contemporary aesthetics with long-lasting protection, backed by a 10-year warranty.
A simple installation with lasting performance
Designed specifically for DIY projects such as sheds, garden offices and pet houses, ONDULINE EASYFIX proved to be an ideal choice for Sammy's roof upgrade. One of the key benefits of the system is that it can be installed directly over an existing felt roof, helping to reduce both installation time and disruption.
Rather than removing the original felt covering, Sammy was able to fit the lightweight bitumen sheets directly over the existing roof, securing them using the recommended fixings and completing the installation with matching ridge and verge pieces. Featuring smart locking guidelines to aid alignment during installation, the sheets were straightforward to position and fix in place. Their unique six-corrugation profile, combined with flat sections between each corrugation, also made the installation process easier, while the modern box-profile appearance instantly elevated the look of the shed.
A stylish finish built to withstand the elements
The completed project has completely refreshed the appearance of Sammy's shed, with the black EASYFIX sheets creating a clean, contemporary finish that complements the rest of her carefully designed garden. Manufactured using 50% recycled content and impregnated with resin for a long-lasting finish, the sheets are designed to deliver reliable performance in all weather conditions, helping to protect the building and its contents year-round.
Sammy said: "Having used Onduline products before, I knew EASYFIX would be a great option for upgrading our shed roof. Being able to install the sheets directly over the existing felt made the project quick and straightforward, while the finished result has completely transformed the look of the shed and provided added protection ready for whatever the British weather brings."
By choosing ONDULINE EASYFIX, Sammy has created a roofing solution that combines practicality with style. The project demonstrates how a simple roof upgrade can dramatically improve the appearance and performance of a garden building, providing a durable, long-lasting alternative to traditional shed felt and helping homeowners get more from their outdoor spaces for years to come.
