Roofing that will withstand hot British summers!

When it comes to choosing new roofing for your shed, outhouse, garage or perhaps even animal pen, we know that one of your primary concerns will be - is it waterproof? Will it keep the rain at bay and ensure leaks are a thing of the past? The good news is that with Onduline, you can be rest assured that our roofing will guarantee watertightness.

BUT have you also considered how hot weather, sunlight and heat waves might affect your roofing?

We all know that our weather system is becoming increasingly unpredictable, we only have to look back to summer 2022 when records were broken here in the UK as temperatures soared to over 40 degrees celsius. Naturally this will have an impact on various building materials, we even saw some road surfaces quite literally melt! So when it comes to choosing new roofing this is definitely something that you will want to consider.

Onduline roofing

Is Onduline roofing suitable for sunlight, hot weather and heat waves?

The simple answer is YES! You may or may not be aware that our roofing sheets are used globally. You’ll find Onduline roofing used everywhere from Brazil, to Columbia and India - countries with a considerably higher average temperature than here in the UK.

What are Onduline sheets actually made of?

Our corrugated sheets are made with an average of 50% recycled fibres mixed with bitumen making them weatherproof!

Can Onduline sheets melt?

The melting point of bitumen is much higher than atmospheric temperatures. You may find in very hot weather that the sheets may soften, but they will not melt, making them ideal for the hotter summers we are experiencing.

Are Onduline roofing sheets long-lasting?

Yes they are! This is why we confidently offer a minimum 10-year guarantee on all of our roofing sheets. It is, however, important that installation instructions are followed carefully. This means your roofing will need to be supported correctly by battens and/or a full deck, depending upon the pitch of the roof. You can find out more about correct installation here.
