As anyone living in England can attest, British weather is inherently unpredictable and quite often soggy. So making sure your shed is waterproof is essential if you want to keep the structure and its contents safe and dry.
Luckily, we have a quick and easy DIY solution to waterproof your shed, and you don’t even need to be a DIY master to install it!
Lightweight and easy to install, our ONDULINE EASYFIX sheets provide a long-lasting waterproof solution that’s perfect for garden sheds. To help you protect your shed from the rain all year round, we’ve put together a step-by-step guide below detailing how to install ONDULINE EASYFIX sheets.
Get your equipment ready
There is no need for specialist tools, but before starting the task make sure you have:
- ONDULINE EASYFIX sheets
- ONDULINE universal screws
- ONDULINE verge pieces
- ONDULINE ridge caps
- Electric screwdriver
- Measuring tape
- Hand saw
- Safety gloves
- Safety goggles
Step 1: Check your roof
Before you begin, it’s important to make sure the roof is clean, dry and structurally sound. ONDULINE EASYFIX sheets are suitable for either full deck or discontinuous roof structures with purlins spaced 37cm apart, make sure your shed roof is compatible with ONDULINE EASYFIX before you start.
Step 2: Lay the sheets
Before laying the sheets, it’s important to ensure you are laying them in the opposite direction of the prevailing winds to prevent water ingress.
Line up your first sheet at the bottom edge of the roof, letting it hang over the edge by 50mm. Once you’re happy with its position, lay the other sheets with a minimum overlap of one corrugation. If your shed requires a second row of sheets, stagger them by starting the second row with a half sheet.
Step 3: Secure the sheets
Secure your ONDULINE EASYFIX sheets in place with a minimum of 15 ONDULINE universal screws, placing them at the top of corrugation on the grey marks and in the order shown on the diagram. Remember not to secure the sheets too tightly!
Step 4: Attach the verge
To optimise wind uplift protection and enhance the overall aesthetic of your shed roof attach the verge accessory. Secure this to the sidewall first and then on the top of the corrugation.
Step 5: Secure the ridge
Start at one edge of the roof and cover the ridge, fixing it on each side of the roof on top of each corrugation. Continue this until the ridge is covered, overlapping the ONDULINE EASYFIX sheets by a minimum of 12cm.
Step 6: Check it over
Once complete, check all the elements are properly secured, step back and admire your handy work!
