If your garden room, workshop or other small leisure building is in need of a refresh, ONDULINE CLASSIC sheets are an easy way to give it a new lease of life. Designed for more than just roofing, they make a great cladding solution for small, detached non-residential buildings* - adding colour, texture and long-lasting protection.
ONDULINE CLASSIC sheets
Unlike metal, ONDULINE CLASSIC won’t rust and is resistant to fungi and most chemicals, making it ideal for damp or coastal environments. The fibrous composition also helps reduce noise from wind and rain, while offering better thermal insulation than thin metal alternatives, so your space feels quieter and more comfortable all year round.
At just 6.4kg per sheet, it’s lightweight, easy to handle and simple for one person to install.
To help get you started, we’ve put together an easy-to-follow step-by-step guide to cladding your outbuilding with ONDULINE CLASSIC.
Tools:
Handsaw
Gloves
Lubricant spray
Onduline CLASSIC sheets
Onduline Universal Screws
Drill
Electric screwdriver
Measuring tape
Step 1: Measuring and fitting the sheets
Before beginning installation, make sure the existing cladding surface is in good, sturdy condition and suitable to fix to. Ensure the sheets are fixed at a minimum 200mm separation from ground level.
Measure the building and if necessary, cut the sheets using a lubricated hand saw. Hold the CLASSIC sheet against the existing structure and use four Onduline screw fixings to pin the sheet in place temporarily. Remember to always fix at the top of corrugations.
Step 2: Overlapping the sheets
Overlapping the sheets by one corrugation, rest the second sheet against the existing structure and use another four screws to pin the sheet in place temporarily. Once you’re happy with the positioning, remove the temporary fixtures of the first two sheets and attach them securely.
All corrugations should be fixed at the top and bottom sections, and every other corrugation should also be fixed in between.
Step 3: Staggering the sheets
When stacking sheets vertically, always stagger your joints for better structural integrity; do this by starting your second row with a sheet cut in half. Each row should overlap the one below by at least 100mm. Please ensure the total cladding height does not exceed the 10-meter safety limit.
Step 4: Check your work
Once all the sheets are in place, give your cladding a thorough once over. Check that all fixings are secure, sheets are aligned correctly and overlaps are sitting neatly to ensure everything is weather-tight and properly finished. It’s worth tightening any loose fixings and brushing away debris so the finished result looks clean and professional.
Then take a step back and admire your handiwork. With its fresh new look and protection from the elements, your outbuilding is ready to stand up to the elements, while looking great.
